Robert Phillips was an American actor, known for "The Dirty Dozen" (1967) and "Hour of the Gun" (1967). Phillips also played pro football for the Washington Redskins and the Chicago Bears and served as a Marine Corps swimming and self-defense instructor. He also worked undercover for the Los Angeles Police Department, his exploits serving as the basis for the Mike Connors TV show "Tightrope" (1959). He also served as a personal bodyguard for former Illinois Gov. Adlai Stevenson.
