Glock 18
The Glock 18 is a selective-fire pistol. It was introduced in 1987 (according to the Glock website) for special forces. It is based on the semi-automatic Glock 17 model. It fires from a closed bolt and uses a short recoil operation, a modified Browning linkless locking system, and a firing mechanism with a pre-set striker (it is neither a single action, nor a double action because the striker is incompletely cocked). It is chambered in the 9ร19 mm Parabellum cartridge. It has a polymer frame, two fire modes (semi-automatic and fully automatic), and automatic safeties. It accepts all Glock 17 magazines (from 10 to 100 cartridges; the standard magazine for the Glock 18 is either of 17 or 19 cartridges depending on a source). All Glock pistols have enough metallic parts to be detected by metal detectors.
A Glock pistol with a fire selector by Jorge A. Leon is not a real Glock 18.
The Glock 18C has a ported barrel and a cutout in the slide to reduce the muzzle rise.
The overall length is around 203-204 mm.
The barrel length is around 114 mm.
The direction of the rifling twist is to the right.
The rifling twist rate is 1 turn in around 250 mm.
The height (with sights and without a magazine) is around 131 mm.
The overall width is around 34 mm.
The mass (unloaded and without a magazine) is around 624-625 g (589 g for the Glock 18C model).
The trigger pull force is around 20-30 newtons. The term "trigger pull weight" is incorrect. Weight is a measure of the force on the object caused by a gravitational field.
The distance between two sights (for the 6.5 mm (the sight's height) polymer rear sight) is around 165 mm. The term "sight radius" is incorrect. The radius is a line segment between any point of a circle or a sphere and its center.
The rate of fire is around 1200-1300 shots per minute (depending on a cartridge variant).
