Solitude

Solitude is the capital of both Haafingar Hold and the entire province of Skyrim. One of the nine major cities in the province, Solitude has been known as a flourishing metropolis within the blessed arms of the Empires of Cyrodiil, having ties with the Septim Empire especially.

Solitude sits upon a great stone arch jutting out from the Druadach Mountains over the Karth River Estuary, where the river meets the Sea of Ghosts and the Drajkmyr Marsh below. Lower Solitude consists of the port and the main headquarters of the East Empire Company. The central warehouse is vast and can accommodate several trading ships. The road to the northernmost point of Haafingar goes directly over the warehouse water entrance and underneath the grand arch of Solitude. The local stables of Solitude are located between the ports and the road leading into the city. Solitude's outer gate is heavily fortified with the Sky Tower being the first line of defense.

The city features two main districts; the Well District, home to the city's bustling market, and the Avenues District, a largely residential area at the far end of which is the Jarl's Blue Palace. One of the more successful inns in Solitude, The Winking Skeever, is conveniently located near the main gate and the town square where various smaller businesses gather to sell their daily catch of fish or signature wines. Near where the two districts meet lies the Temple of the Divines, featuring shrines dedicated to each of the Nine Divines, and Castle Dour, where the military forces of Solitude reside, such as the Imperial Legion.
