The Kersko Natural Monument is a protected area located near the villages of Hradištko, Velenka, Třebestovice and the town of Sadská in the Nymburk district, but cadastrally it falls only under the first and last named settlements. It is named after the nearby forest cottage colony Kersko. It was declared on November 11, 2016 on an area of 217.6122 hectares, the declaration was updated on March 21, 2017. The protection zone established by law covers an area of 53.5337 hectares. The natural monument includes a relatively large part of the Kersko forest (on old maps referred to as Doubice, the northern part extending into the protected area is called Chobot) north of the Kersko gamekeepers (near Třebestovice, on the road from Velenka to Sadská) and U Kocánka and south of the gamekeeper's lodge V Chobotě. Approximately in the middle is the forest pond Káň and around it the protected locality of the extinct village of Kří with a water fortress. North of the former village, the protected area is crossed from west to east by the road called Nymburačka, the historical connection between Velenka and Nymburk. Near the northern edge, but still on the area of the natural monument, grows a memorable Scots pine called Krásná Pepina. Near it is the torso of the memorable pine Švarná Tonka, which grew here until 2007, when it was damaged by hurricane Kyril.
