Osa Johnson and her husband Martin E. Johnson were married American adventurers and documentary filmmakers. Photographers, explorers, marketers, naturalists, authors and aviators, Osa and Martin studied the wildlife and peoples of East and Central Africa, the South Pacific Islands and British North Borneo. They explored then-unknown lands and brought back film footage and photographs, offering many Americans their first understanding of these distant lands. They were known for "Cannibals of the South Seas" (1912), "Stanley and Livingstone" (1939) and "I Married Adventure" (1940).
