Description:
Ornatos Violeta were a great portuguese alternative rock band from the 90's.
They only sang in portuguese, and are without doubt one of the very best portuguese-singing bands ever.
They had a versatile, mixed style, that included influences from punk/ska, jazz or funk. The band had a very good original and unique sound, as well as mesmerizing lyrics to their songs, and is very missed today.
The band is from Oporto and was formed in 1991, by Manel Cruz (singer songwriter), Peixe (guitar), Nuno Prata (bass), "Kinorm" (drums) and Elísio Donas (keyboards).
With only 2 albums, the band quickly became a huge reference
