The You and the Now is French Canadian singer and cellist Jorane's English-language début. Boasting production by Michael Brook, writing by Lisa Germano and Simon Wilcox, and the appearance of Daniel Lanois on "Pour ton sourire" (the only Francophone track), it's undoubtedly her best album yet. Though it's more rhythmic and less vaporous and mannered than her previous outings, it remains a Jorane album--one on which every track is worth hearing.
