Endresen has been a presence on the contemporary European circuit for over a decade, and made two fine albums for ECM at the opening of the 1990s, but it is only since her extensive tours and latter-day CDs with Bugge Wesseltoft that she has been noticed in Britain. This is all to the good, for she has a uniquely expressive, dark-toned alto voice, a fine gift for words (she spent many years in London and has an entirely idiomatic grasp of English) and a persuasive way with a melody.
