Peter Case emerged from the punk-pop band The Plimsouls with a startlingly different focus. His songs kept their rock edge, but became fuller, almost cinematic in scope, and the country blues he'd mastered at the start of his career found fullest expression in his gruff, nasal voice and powerhouse acoustic guitar.
