Surrender, the debut album from Javine comes 18 months after her unexpected departure from Popstars: The Rivals, the TV show that kindly gave us Girls Aloud and One True Voice. The album opens with her first single "Real Things", a spectacular hip-hop/soul number that utilises the horn riff from MOP's "Ante Up" to great effect. However, the big, noisy, opener doesn't herald what the rest of Surrender holds, for it's a wonderful melting pot of all things R&B and soul with very little in the way of hip-hop-inspired tracks.
