He spent much of his earlier years moving in areas like Stoke Newington, Tottenham, Homerton and Dalston where he went to school. Growing up in a multicultural inner London society, he had strong musical influences from other ethnic cultures especially from the West Indian culture. Many of his close friends were black and of Jamaican origin, but race or culture was never an issue amongst them. Many of his older friends were raving to reggae sound systems like, Sir Coxsone, Saxon and Unity in the late eighties. Even though he was too young to go to the raves himself, he still managed to get the vibes by listening to the Sound Tapes recorded at these dances.
