On 18-19 December 1986, Sun Ra and a 13-piece Arkestra took to the studio, recording the material for two full-length LPs: Reflections In Blue and its follow up Hours After, in back to back sessions. Here Ra and a particularly inspired Arkestra featuring John Gilmore, Randall Murray and Tyrone Hill, careen crazily through a mix of radically reelaborated jazz standards like ''Yesterdays'', ''Say It Isn't So'' and ''But Not For Me'', and a handful of inspired Ra originals (i.e. ''Reflections In Blue'', ''Hours After'', '' Dance Of The Extra Terrestrians''). While Reflections in Blue was released on the Black Saint label soon after
