The man famed for such seminal 1990's releases as Logical Progression and Earth, has kept up a phenomenal output of music over the last five years, but probably because of his purist, uncompromising vision the standard has rarely slipped from the highest level. On PS5 we get some of Good Looking's top performers in one seamless mix: rapper MC Conrad throwing down the verbal gauntlet, new kid on the block Big Bud in blessed-out mode, well-kept secret Lacarno offering up gnarled pieces of raw funk, and of course The Man--Bukem himself. As Conrad explains: "We wanna make you feel like it's June when it's December". Backed by a 4-4 house beat such a sentiment would appear trite and cheesy. But set against the powerfunk of Bukem's protรฉgรฉs it makes perfect sense. Truly progressive. --Tom de Castella
