Description:
Take a horny DJ and MC team (The High and Mighty's Mighty Mi and Eon) and one foul-mouthed, metal-toothed rapper (Cage). Throw in a buck-toothed sex dwarf called Beetlejuice for good measure, and whaddaya get? Peddlars of Smut, purveyors of filth and, possibly, the most debased hip-hop group in existence. Their debut album, Porn Again, is a eulogy to every sexual proclivity going, and quite a few others you didn't know existed--unrepentant filth-freaks rhyming over sleazy 70s funk, like Barry White instrumentals stripped of all their melancholy build-up so they cut straight to the nitty-gritty. These dirty, flirty, slow, bump-and-grind rhythms act as a backdrop for Cage and Eon's backstreet blow-job tales. "That Smut" is the Peddlers' shameless sing-a-long anthem. Kool Keith joins the gang-bang, flaunting his mack-daddy status over "Stank MCs" baroque breakbeats. Ra the Rugged Man joins the fray for "Bottom Feeders", a single of sorts that scrapes the bottom of the barrel for a last burst of outrage. If you ever wondered how low "low" can go, then "Porn Again" has all the answers you need. --Chris Campion
