This is the only disc I have heard in John O'Conor's complete series of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas for Telarc. Afterwards, I didn't listen to any more of them. O'Conor's playing of these middle-period Beethoven sonatas is perfectly respectable. He plays all the notes and makes sense out of them. His style is appropriate in the mellow Pastorale. But when Beethoven turns up the heat, O'Conor turns it down again, depriving the music of its fierce drama (No. 16) and quirky humor (No. 18).
