With New Order in hiatus, and a reunion looking (at the time) increasingly unlikely, bassist Peter Hook found himself at something of a loose end. His first solo project, Revenge, had gone nowhere--but Hooky, like John Wayne, was not meant for the quiet life. Instead, he recruited singer/guitarist David Potts (a hired hand, reputedly, on the Revenge sessions) and formed Monaco--not so much a successor to New Order's legacy, as its perpetuation.
