As a teenager, Eric knew he wanted a career in music. He became a member of the local group The Deltones; before he was twenty. In 1984, Nolan?s talent was recognized by Dennis Edwards of the Temptations, and became a background vocalist for Dennis Edwards. A few years later Nolan left Cleveland to form his own group in Detroit: E & J consisted of Nolan and songstress Jeanie Lyles. However Eric has always drawn back to his Ohio roots?after a year of singing background vocals for the Father and Son Tour with Eddie and the late Gerald LeVert, Nolan nailed the audition to become a member of the Legendary O?Jays in 1995.
