Falling short of the truly iconic quality that ex-music journalist-turned-frontman Cliff Jones probably hoped for, Leisure Noise is nevertheless a strong late 1990's British rock album. At its best, as on the brilliant debut single "To Earth With Love", it manages to re-route the listener back to the 70s of glam rock David Bowie. Elsewhere, however, an unwise 1980s MTV production sheen manages to both mask the shortcomings of the melodically flawed "Joy!" and the clichéd "My Son Mystic", whilst threatening to detract from the affecting "Oh Jim" and "Different Kind of Blue".
