At the time when Pharoah Sanders added his tenor sax to John Coltrane in the mid-60s it would have been deemed fairly unlikely that his music would ever be termed as dance music: but 15 years later coupling his raw sax to a funky 70s beat it became just that. The track "You've Got To Have Freedom" became an anthem with it's unusual mix of jazz blow-out, disco-tinged piano and the most 70s-sounding backing singers you can imagine.
