Phillippe Cohen Solal clearly enjoys pushing boundaries, having already shown the dance music universe just how flexible a tango rhythm can be on Gotan Project's 2001 release La Revancha Del Tango. Inspiracion-Espiracion doesn't do anything new, exactly, but this sprawling mix of new tracks, remixes, guest DJs, Astor Piazzolla, and poetry readings doesn't lack for audaciousness. With a soulful mixer like Solal at the wheel, it's a pretty smooth ride; a reinterpretation of Chet Baker's "Round About Midnight" segues into the beat-driven "Confianzas" like a darkening sky giving way to moonlight.
