Description: This album represents a turning point for the Stones. Though they had not yet fully integrated the baroque aspirations of pop into their music, the flower-power influence had nonetheless begun to take root. While all the earlier elements of their sound are still firmly in place, in the folky "Backstreet Girl" and the relentlessly rocking "Let's Spend The Night Together," new sounds also crop up. "The Stones were cresting so high around 1967 that even this pieced-together hodgepodge of singles and tracks left off the U.S. releases of Aftermath and Between the Buttons has a distinctness of style and invention about it. It re-recycles "Let's Spend the Night Together"/"Ruby Tuesday," which shouldn't have been on Between the Buttons to begin with. It disrespects the rightful owners of 'My Girl" (the Temptations) and the target of "Mother's Little Helper" (yo mama). As for "Lady Jane," what's "
