John Forster records for the folk label Philo, but he's actually a cabaret parodist in the tradition of Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman, and the Capitol Steps. Like most performers in this genre, Forster is very good when he's good but extremely annoying when he's not. Entering Marion has more misses than hits, but when it connects, it scores big time. Unlike most of his peers in the parody dodge, Forster is actually more skilled as a musician than as a lyricist.
