Description:
On the basis that there can never be enough records inspired by late-period Triffids, Consent is unequivocally a good thing. The Devlins share the interest in bringing electronica to bear on torch ballads that the criminally under-rated Triffids were pursuing circa The Black Swan: drum-machines clatter incongruously behind acoustic strings, while the words lunge unabashedly at the big ideas. It would also seem safe to assume that The Devlins' record collections contain substantial quantities of works by Tindersticks, Mojave 3, the Blue Nile and Leonard Cohen.
