The D.C. scene leaders didn't stay together very long, but they remain hugely influential thanks to Ian MacKaye's true-believer intensity, as he spread the straight-edge gospel of how to bring revolutionary values to everyday life."

500 CDs You Must Own Before You Die! (500 music items)

"Their hardcore racket was loud, their mood angry and their songs short. Washington, D.C.โ€™s Minor Threat appeared to have consumed their body weight in stimulants. In fact, the straight-edge movement was named after a Minor Threat tune. Standout track: โ€œStraight Edgeโ€"
