Bach & Reger: Works for Violin Solo

A great but still somewhat neglected composer, Max Reger was an unconditional admirer of Johann Sebastian Bach. Reger s works for unaccompanied violin, the Preludes and Fugues, are inspired by the Sonatas and Partitas written by his illustrious idol. Here the two sets of works strike up a dialogue as if between mirror images, right down their respective Chaconnes. Violinist Sayaka Shoji performs brilliantly on the fascinating disc of musical comparisons from Mirare.
