At First Light presents Norway's jazz answer to Britney Spears in a narrow stylistic ambit that is informed more by backward glances to 60s casual music than jazz, pop, rock or soul/funk. This is music that can safely be played in airports and can accompany intimate evenings over a good bottle of wine in a riverside penthouse. Nergaard has written around two-thirds of the material here (lyrics by Mike McGurk) and it is all ingratiatingly well joined-up.
