"Many Cure collectors don't realize that the 'Assemblage' box set has unique editions of each album through Disintegration. Importantly, these CDs are based on the superior Fiction/Polydor masters---not the digitally butchered versions sold in the U.S. until 1989 (by Elektra and Sire). This 'Assemblage' set adds cardstock slipcases you cannot buy anywhere else. Oddly, both of the bands' 1980s compilations are included: the singles-shoring, Chris Parry-instigated career relaunch Boys Don't Cry from 1980, and the defining, pop-tastic 1986 singles disc Standing on a Beach, which is where most of America joined the story.
The out-of-print Concert LP---which seems to have been overlooked in the Rhino reissue process, despite being one of the Cure's strongest releases---IS INCLUDED. 'Assemblage' was, like the excellent Entreat live disc, only available in France, as a thank-you to that country's frighteningly rabid fanbase."
