Originally intended to be the follow up to his successful "Tectonics" mix album, Adam Freeland's latest project turned into an On Tour concept when he started to blend in the crowd reactions he's been recording from various gigs he's played over the last few months. Originally intended to be the follow up to his successful "Tectonics" mix album, Adam Freeland's latest project turned into an On Tour concept when he started to blend in the crowd reactions he's been recording from various gigs he's played over the last few months. Although it wasn't an official "tour" as such, Freeland spent no less than six months away from his home earlier this year to spread the breakbeat love from America to Australia. On the surface, On Tour might simply be a mix album with crowd noise added on, but the extra sounds do add some alternative ambience. Extra points go to the DJ for not ending and beginning every single track with egotistical evidence of his popularity; rather Adam has kept the sounds quite low in the mix save for the first and last tracks on the LP. Sandwiched between these raucous uproars, we get a snapshot of the kind of funky-ass breaks the man has been laying down of late. Fluke, fellow Brighton beatniks Pressure Drop, Marine Parade stalwart Ils, Bushwacka!, Bassbin Twins and Uberzone all provide tasty flavours for this endlessly rump-shaking journey through all kinds of top notch breaks. After this, you may never go back to four to the floor music again. --Paul Sullivan
