Ace Troubleshooter

"Phoenix" and "1st Cor. 13" are demonstrably faith based, while "Misconceptions" warns about basing one's faith, or lack thereof, on the sinful lives of other Christians. "My Way" challenges the way of self-satisfaction. Love songs like "Denise" and "Tonight" point to the gifts of God and the promise of salvation. Two songs, however, "Don't Trust That Girl" and "Yoko," seem mean-spirited and childish in their dealings with young women. While a common sentiment among young men, it's unfortunate to diss women while refusing to recognize your own place in the struggle.

Still, Ace Troubleshooter is a rocking little punk album. And as the band grows up, the men of Ace Troubleshooter might actually learn that the girls are all right, too. -- Brian Quincy Newcomb (c) 2000 CCM Communications, Inc.
