Occasionally reminiscent in tone (and titles--try "Behind the Scenes of the Sounds & the Times") of Love's psychedelic masterwork Forever Changes, the fourth Swervedriver album demonstrates that there's still a lot to be done and said with the concurrently heavy and airy music once known as "shoegazing." On 99th Dream, the band's quest for transcendence takes it beyond the road celebrations that made its name so apropos into lyrics that often counsel trying to fly.
