This three-decade anthology of Temptations hits tries to cover a lot of time in the short span of 11 cuts. In fact, after 1975 or so, the Temptations weren't so temptin' when it came to scoring major hits. True, the early part of the 1970s produced several major milestones--the gossamer "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)," the dramatic "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone," and the psychedelic protest song "Ball of Confusion"--and those cuts alone could pretty much justify the budget price of this set.
