Barbara Manning is a wolf in singer-songwriter clothing. Too edgy for Lilith, too sophisticated for the sorority of riot grrrls, Manning's recordings consistently simmer with a nervous energy that tends to (alas? thank goodness?) keep her out of the commercial spotlight.
