XXX: State of the Union Reviews

Following the success of 'xXx, it wasn't really surprising that they decided to make a sequel. What was more surprising is that Vin Diesel didn't come back as Xander Cage. If I understood correctly, Mr Diesel thought that to show up in a sequel was underneath his 'status'. Considering how disappointing his career turned out to be, he shouldn't have been so arrogant... Anyway, back to the 'State of the Union'. Basically, it is a rather average action flick with lots of shootings, explostions and all that stuff. I have nothing against Ice Cube but he didn't really have enough charisma to make us forget Xander Cage. It seems also like centuries ago that Lee Tamahori directed the great and awesome 'Once Were Warriors'. Since then, he has been directing most of the time average action flicks and thrillers ('Next', 'Die Another Day', 'Along Came a Spider', 'The Edge', 'Mulholland Falls'). He seemed to be a very talented director and it is a real shame. To conclude, this flick is not really bad whatsover but it is really generic and disposable and it is not really worth a look, expect maybe if you are a die-hard fan of action movies.

Vin Diesel e Rob Cohen, o ator e diretor do primeiro filme tinham assinado para este filme antes de xXx ser filmado, mas os dois saíram. Cohen se manteve como produtor executivo.

xXx is a great movie but this one State of the Union also known where I live as The next level was just bad. The storyline is boring Ice Cube plays Darius Stone a gangsta type person this is what really makes it bad and the effects just are not as good. As in xXx that combines action with extreme sports thats what made it enjoyable also the fact of Vin Diesel's character in that movie was great.

I just wish this one would not of been made I really did think it was completely boring and not entertaining at all.

"The fate of the free world is in the hands of hustlers and thieves". Ha ha, are you kidding me? The second installment to the hi-tech action series proves that sequels to bad movies are even worse. Former NWA front man Ice Cube brings more personality to the character than Vin Diesel, but its too bad the writers can't seem to focus any attention on the dialogue.
