White Men Can't Jump Reviews
A good movie
Posted : 9 years, 7 months ago on 5 September 2014 09:12I remember it very well, I watched this flick when I was a kid, I really liked it and, actually, I should re-watch it at some point. The point is that it is basically a standard sport feature but even though it does follow the rules of the genre, Ron Shelton managed to add an extra edge to the whole thing and it made this flick actually stand out from the rest. Indeed, even though you get to see some pretty neat basketball action, it is actually not only about basketball, it is actually above all about hustling and and the whole hustling thing was in fact quite fascinating to behold. On top of that, Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes gave some really solid performances and they had some great chemisty together. It is actually rather funny to see how differently their careers developed in the following 20 years (Harrelson has since then become one of the most insteresting character actors in the business while Snipes became for a while one massive action star but he has pretty much lost this status in the last 10 years). To conclude, even though it is not really a masterpiece, I think it is still a pretty good flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
