A bad movie

Posted : 7 years, 11 months ago on 8 June 2016 03:10

Since this movie had a very lame reputation and since I really didnโ€™t like 'Littleman' at all, I had some really low expectations concerning this flick but, somehow, I still ended up watching the damned thing (the fact that it was available on Netflix was probably another major factor). Anyway, were should I start? Obviously, to start up, the whole premise was just so misguided, even if it was done on purpose. I mean, can you imagine a comedy where 2 white girls would put some make-up to portray some black guys? Furthermore, they were completely unconvincing and it was just really pathetic that all the other characters wouldn't notice the difference. ย Finally, and that was probably the biggest problem, the whole thing was just not funny at all. I mean, you basically had a stupid premise with some stupid characters getting involved with some stupid jokes so the end-result was just rather pathetic. To conclude, it is really difficult to choose between this movie and 'Littleman' which one was the worse but it is clear that the Wayans brothers clearly lost their touch at the time and it is no surprise that we don't hear much from them nowadays. Anyway, just do yourself a favor and go watch something else instead.

White Chicks review

Posted : 15 years, 11 months ago on 26 May 2008 10:17

In this comedy the Wayans brothers portray two FBI agents who have to disguise themselves as two spoiled rich girls and blend into high society. The problem: those two girls are "white chicks", which doesn't make the disguise any easier. But - behold - the allmighty FBI can easily transfer two black males into two white females. It just needs some contact lenses, lots of silicon and some suitcases full of expensive clothes. However, i'd really like to know how the FBI magicians manage to get those contact lenses automatically off together with the masks, when they are being taken off, in one step...

This comedy plays a lot with differences in social status, culture and sexes. Mostly in a slapstick way. Although many gags are clear misses, there are also some hits that will make you giggle at least. So, as already stated by other reviewers, this movie is certainly no sophisticated kind of comedy like Monty Python used to make, but more the kind of "turn off your brain and enjoy the pretty colors and action onscreen" comedy. Nonetheless, you could enjoy it if you are into the latter and can blend out the weak story and overall acting.

Silly and funny

Personally think this is one of the better Wayans brothers comedies. A good comedy for some mindless watching is always good once in a while.

Yes, the disguises are laughable and the acting generally average, but at least the story was something a little different than some of the generic comedy of more recent years. It definitely has its moments, and the whole subplot featuring Terry Crews' character was just hilariously silly. I like to think of it as a more comedy-focussed Miss Congeniality.

Want to give your brain a rest? Turn it off and have a laugh at this.

First off, the disguises were so ridiculous, I could barely watch the Wayans brothers while incognito. The story was weak as was the acting but come on, what would you expect. Overall, the movie had some good laughs in spirit of traditional Wayans slapstick comedy.
