I mean, Jolie went for a project which seemed to be some pure gold. Indeed, she was working with acclaimed DOP Roger Deakins, the screenplay was written by the Coen brothers and, above all, it was simply an amazing story. There's so much vitality in Louis Zamperini's life story that it's disappointing that so much of the film is devoted to a worn-out POW story that doesn't divert for any of the other ones we've seen in other films.
