An average movie

Honestly, I wasnโ€™t expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for the genre, I thought might as well give it a try. The main issue, in my opinion, is that U-boot movies are rather entertaining but they never reach the level of 'Das Boot', the ultimate U-boot flick. But still, like I said before, it is an entertaining genre so I thought I should check this one out as well. First of all, there was an interesting cast (Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton, Harvey Keitel) and this movie was made was back in those days when McConaughey was trying other things than romantic comedies and he was actually allright here. Of course, Bill Paxton and Harvey Keitel are always dependable and they delivered the goods as usual. Furthermore, there were some good action scenes and the whole thing was actually rather thrilling to watch. However, they unfortunately felt compelled to go way over the top with the story and then, the whole thing just felt unfortunately less compelling to watch at some point. Still, in spite of its flaws, it remains a well made and entertaining flick and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.
