An average movie

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 17 October 2014 02:34

Before making the transition to dramas, becoming a โ€˜seriousโ€™ actor and winning 2 oscars in the process, Tom Hanks actually starred in such comedies throughout the 80's. Even if I enjoyed some of those ('The money pit' for example, was not bad at all and โ€˜Bigโ€™ was pretty good as well), some of them were actually kind of lame. In my opinion, this flick which was fairly successful at the box-office definitely belonged to the 2nd category. I mean, sure when I was a kid, I thought it was fairly entertaining but, nowadays, there is no way I canโ€™t take such movie really seriously. Sure, Tom Hanks always had pretty good comedic timing and he did what it could with this material but, basically, you had the usual stererotypical jokes that you have in every single movie dealing with dogs so the whole thing was rather tedious. To be honest, in this genre, it is probably not the worst I have seen but it was still not enough to be really worthwhile. To conclude, even though it wasn't really awful, it is still a rather average comedy and I donโ€™t think it is really worth a look, expect if you really love this genre.

Turner & Hooch review

For all the dog lovers out there, Hanks stars in one of the best cop/K-9 duos yet. Follow him as he goes through every new dog owner's nightmare, and some situations that remind us way too much of our own dogs. There's mystery, crime, action, and romance, so something for everyone.

Turner & Hooch review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 3 September 2011 03:08

Scott Turner has 3 days left in the local police department before he moves to a bigger city to get some "real" cases, not just misdemeanors. Then Amos Reed is murdered, and Scott Turner sets himself on the case. The closest thing to a witness in the case is Amos Reed's dog, Hooch, which Scott Turner has to take care of if it's going to avoid being "put to sleep".

I love this movie. It was made the year I was born, but I watched it like once a year growing up. When the dog died, it always made me cry, as he was the most loveable character on the whole movie.

Poor, poor, Tom

Even though I saw this as a kid, I guess I just don't find drooling dogs that destroy everything all that funny.

And I seem to remember some guy behind us getting up and walking out muttering about how stupid it was. I don't plan on putting myself through it again.

What was Tom Hanks thinking? This was a great movie... if you like crap. I remember seeing this in the theater (I was 12), and people actually got up and left. To be fair, I haven't seen it since, but I'm afraid to give up that much of my life to see if I was wrong.
