The Town That Dreaded Sundown review

Posted : 9 years, 6 months ago on 24 October 2014 04:57

I haven't seen the original one so I am basing this on it as a stand alone. I have actually been to Texarkana before so it's interesting to see a small real town I've actually been to and seen in film. For a horror film without a theatrical release the cast is actually pretty good. The fact that the director of the previous film has some involvement in this is actually pretty cool. It's pretty interesting that this is more like it's own film rather than a remake. It's set up that the previous film was based on the real life killings, but in this that film is just a film. I think it's a nice spin on something people would just see as a simple remake. Now most of the death scenes aren't that original, but the sheer brutality involved definitely pumps your adrenaline. The acting is pretty good especially from good ole Denis O'Hare. I think people moved on to newer things too quickly at least in my opinion. I have to say I didn't see that twist coming at all. It felt like a lot of stuff could have been done better. Everything just felt really rushed. It's not bad, but it could have been better. It kind of reminded me a lot of the Scream series. It had its moments anyways.
