An average movie

Posted : 13 years, 2 months ago on 11 March 2011 12:48

I remember it very well, when it was released, my wife was really eager to check this flick and she really loved the damned thing. Personally, I wasn’t completely convinced by this movie though. I mean, sure, I have to admit that, even though I was not a huge fan of Michael Jackson, I'm definitely aware that the guy has created some amazing songs during his career. So, it helped to enjoy this movie and it was nice that see that, in spite the fact that he pretty much looked like a walking zombie, he still definitely had some musical and dancing inspiration. Still, was it really enough to make it a great movie ? I don’t think so. Indeed, in my opinion, the whole thing was quite enjoyable and interesting enough but that was about it, I’m afraid. On top of that, I always thought that it was fairly hypocritical that, for at least 20 years, everybody was focusing on his erratic behavior but as soons as the poor guy passed away, they all seem to forget about all this and suddenly they focused on his artistical merits. Anyway, to conclude, even though it was nothing really mind-blowing, I still think it was a decent watch and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you want to see a music icon doing his thing.

This Is It review

Posted : 13 years, 5 months ago on 13 December 2010 02:51

This is It tells about preparations of the "last" tour of Michael Jackson and his rehersals. The footage of the document is new material never been shown before to the world.

I have never been particular MJ fan nor listen his music. But because he is some sort of cornerstone of music history you gotta know him even if your IQ is less than average. So I know most of the songs by MJ, who doesn't?

It was great to see how the show would have been. I loved especially how the stage and props were made for Thriller and Smooth Criminal. However, because MJ does not have "real" meaning for me I don't understand how I should somehow be moved while watching this document... Also the document does not tell much about MJ's personality or character. Watch Oprah's review of MJ instead of this.

Of course the movie is some sort of way to remember Jacko, and it's such a shame the tour never took place considering the fact how much effort, money and love were put in to it. The movie itself didn't affect me practically any ways though, and the only reason is because I only thing MJ was only a great guy and historical milestone.

I know that Michael Jackson was talented as hell and he has been developing the world music in its current form. He is in so many ways the great historical human being, but not a god. That's why I don't understand why so many people think him as god. For real.

Also really confusing thing is that this document would not be such a huge success and would not cause such a great hype without Jacko being dead. This is why I want to review the movie as it was published before MJ's death: boring, meaningless raw video footage of Michael Jackson. Nothing more. 2/5

mérito absoluto do protagonista.

“This Is It” Ă© uma experiĂȘncia e tanto: mĂ©rito absoluto do protagonista.

Tell Em That It's Human Nature

So much to say, not only about this movie, but about what the footage was. Made for Michael Jackson’s private library was the footage in this movie, where the rehearsals and sound checks took place for his upcoming “This Is It” Tour. Sitting down and viewing this movie was almost like the lead up to the titanic; in which things just got better and the rehearsals looked like a great time, but you know what is to come. I’m happy I got to actually see it in theaters, and if the tour came to America and I actually got to be a part of that; not only would I know I’d have a blast but Michael Jackson would have without a doubt in my mind redeemed his name as the king of pop in the States. A spectacle put on by a true artist, that of a rare breed as we have seen by the many recent horrid acts who call themselves musicians. The man himself Michael Jackson is hands on with every aspect of the show, leaving nothing to anyone else, and kind and understanding to say the least. Each song in this show has its own theme, like they are each an experience their own, and the songs shown were nailed on what they would say if they could talk. The atmosphere, the outfits, were all oozing with heart. There is a part in the film where despite Michael’s attempts to sing lightly due to practice amounts, he can’t help but give a song his all; and was cheered on by his fans and dancers who were in attendance. Very sad to know that a man with such talent has left this earth long before he was due to, and that this tour will never happen. At least there is this film, which ended on a high note, and captured his message to deliver to the world. Rest in Peace Michael. Maybe they will leave you alone now.

I love it and it was the best concert movie ever. My Favorite Songs from Michael Jackson are Beat It, Billie Jean, Thriller, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin, Human Nature, The Way You Make Me Feel and I Just Can't Stop Loving You.
