An average movie

Posted : 12 years ago on 11 May 2012 08:44

First of all, I have to point out that I have never been a fan of this TV show. Back then, there was a huge hype around it but I kind of missed it. I mean, I did watch a few episodes but it never blew me away. In spite of this, I still wanted to check this flick, just to see how it would turn out in a feature length format. Unfortunately, the end result was rather disappointing, I'm afraid. Indeed, the whole thing felt like a long episode with a very convoluted plot. I know, the show was based on such far-fetched scenarios, maybe that's why I never really enjoyed it. I have read here and there that this movie was supposed to be rather accessible for people not familiar with the show but I really disagree on this. It was obviously made to please the fans as the story was linked to the previous seasons and the seasons coming after and there were tons of references which went above my head. The funny thing is that I found the 2nd movie much better than this one but this 'sequel' didn't have much to do with the X-files, expect for the title and of course, Mulder and Scully. To conclude, I don't think it is really worth a look, maybe only if you are a die-hard fan of this legendary show.

Evolutionary Conspiracy

As a long time fan to the cult classic series, I am somewhat biased to the feature film. Those unfamiliar to the series will have little problems adjusting to the movie as it is successful as a stand-alone feature. However, for the fans, the movie adds coherence to the vast conspiracies layed out through the first five seasons and also acts as a bridge to the future seasons that followed.
