Part of the Free Cinema Movement, and number 3 in Ford of Britain's "Look at Britain" series, John Fletcher's "The Saturday Men" is a well made documentary about the off-field lives of the players and others at West Brom. The film shows board room decisions, training sessions, supporters quibbling, the struggle to make it onto -- and maintain one's position on -- the first team, and a touching sequence showing a retiring player starting a new career as a sales representative for a machine parts distributor.
