A very good movie

Posted : 5 years, 1 month ago on 11 April 2019 08:24

I had no idea what to expect from this movie, in fact, I had actually never heard of Sebastiรฃo Salgado before but since I have a weak spot Wim Wenders's work, I thought I might as well check it out. To be honest, it took me a while to get into the damned thing because, in the beginning, it was focusing too much on Salgado himself. However, slowly, I have to admit that I became really impressed by his work. Indeed, not only the guy has made some amazing pictures through his long career but it actually went beyond some pretty pictures. Basically, for each of his books, he spent about 10 years and the end-result of all this work was just a fascinating look on the human condition. Unsurprisingly, after witnessing the tragedy in Rwanda, he had to take a break though. However, thanks to his wife, he started a new project involving the recovering of the forest and nature on his family property in Brazil and this new ecological project was also quite inspiring. Anyway, to conclude, the damned thing turned out to be a really beautiful and interesting documentary and it is definitely worth a look, especially if you like the genre.

As estructured as Salgados' life, form his commitment to social painful potos too ecological ones, and his project on reforestation.
