The Last Mimzy Reviews

This is one of those rare moments where I give a film some good comments even though I've rated it low. I loved the story of this but as an adult I wasn't entertained much. I thought the film focused way to long on all the neat little powers the two kids are finding. I also thought that having the only black guy as the bad guy in the film was a bit lame. I thought that subconscious racist crap was done with in the early 90's, but I guess not. In saying that, I would probably have loved this a lot more if I was a kid and I will recommend it as well to my brother for his kids too. Interesting plot and good effects. The Intel bear rules!

Trama
La civiltà umana progredirà e si evolverà geneticamente acquisendo poteri psichici e telecinetici, ma prima che questo possa accadere, dovrà superare una guerra etica sbocciata dall'odio insinuatosi nella loro "natura".
Nel futuro, uno scienziato della Intel darà vita a delle forme di vita inteliggenti e sofisticate, basate su nano-macchine-particelle (Mimzy) che invierà nel passato per trasmettere un messaggio di pace e ricevere in cambio il codice genetico di un umano puro di cuore, per poter ripopolare l'umanità di quell'"incontaminato" sentimento e ripristinare finalmente la pace, nel suo tempo...

c'è un libro che la badante legge a Emma, nel quale oltre alla storia vi è ritratta la stessa Alice in una vecchia foto(centenaria) insieme ad un coniglietto uguale a Mimzy...
in seguito Emma dirà, dopo aver immerso il viso nella bolla vorticale di particelle, di aver attraversato lo specchio e visto un'altra realtà (lo scienziato impegnato nel suo progetto...)

Considerazioni
La sceneggiatura, anche se tessuta su una trama di avvenimenti comici e infantili, lascia spazio ad una storia intrigante e misteriosa...
Non è la solita storiella d'intrattenimento per bambini,
ma un film basato su un racconto scritto da lewis perrige che interessa tutti, non solo i piu piccini;
cosparge il percorso di flebili messaggi di pace ed ecologici panorami che grazie al sentimento puro come quello di una bambina, intriso di amore e gioia, potranno forse prendere vita in un futuro piu sano e giusto.
Gli effetti speciali non sono da meno e risaltano l'atmosfera "aliena" sviluppatasi durante l'avventura,
due bambini, uno con problemi di inferiorità, l'altra intelligente e gioiosa ma esclusa dalle amiche, entrambi cercano una via di fuga dalla realtà , e mimzy il cicerone dalla paffuta coda, erigerà il ponte per il paese delle meraviglie, trasformandoli in un genio ed in una predestinata salvatrice.

This movie is terrible. The acting is awful, the script is unbelievable (even when suspending belief)...and the only people worth watching in the whole movie were Rainn Wilson, Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson, and Kathryn Hahn. Everyone else is a low-budget, bad actor, especially the annoying little girl, who can't even decently fake a seizure.

leading off my negative review of "bridge to terabithia", I saw this film immediately after that one and folks, THIS is how to make a family film that is enjoyable to both adults and children. I loved the sci-fi and mysterious element to it; the story really draws you in, and the 'bunny' and the mysterious rocks really captivated my daughter throughout. And when the girl was crying because she didn't want the toy 'bunny' to die, i found it more emotional than in 'terabithia' when one of the main character died. lol

go figure.
