An average movie

I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since there was a decent cast involved and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, every year, Netflix comes up with a big blockbuster action flick and, every year, it turns out to be a dud and I’m afraid this movie won’t be an exception. It’s rather surprising because, this time around, they did seem to have the rights ingredients. They had the biggest budget for a Netflix movie so far, the Russo brothers, the same writers who worked with them on some of the best MCU instalments and they had Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans on board. Still, I would have to admit that it wasn’t a complete failure though. Indeed, most of the action scenes were quite impressive, even if they did become too much at some point. For example, the scene in Vienna with the tram lasted for so long and there were just so many goons and cops killed in the process, it was just relentless and, to be honest, rather tiresome. Gosling and Evans were also really good in this but I wish Evans would have been working solo, instead of having a full army of thugs doing most of the dirty work for him. Eventually, I think it was probably the biggest issue in this movie, the fact that a private contractor like Lloyd Hansen would have a complete army at his disposal was hardly convincing. Sure, a dozen of guys why not? But there were just way too many of them and then you had also all the equipments they used. Of course, he mentioned he wanted an unlimited budget but, first, he would need to get the money from the government, then, he would need to order all this stuff which would take weeks which obviously didn’t really work since he was involved in a time-sensitive man hunting. It’s too bad and I think if they would have focused only on Sierra Six and Lloyd Hansen chasing and fighting each other, the damned thing would have been actually much better. Anyway, to conclude, in spite of its flaws, it was still a decent watch though and I have to admit that it is actually worth a look.
