House of Usher review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 30 December 2011 01:09

This was the very first Vincent Price film I saw and I still love it now as much as I did then. I even had an artist draw me an excellent picture of Vincent from this movie that I've now framed on my wall. The idea behind being buried alive is in most of Poe's tales and I think this one is one of the best uses of that idea. All the acting is great by the supporting cast and the music is my favourite from any of the Price/ Poe films. This is the film that lifted Roger Corman's career and I still can't believe it was shot in just 15 days! I like this one better than some films that have been shot in 6 months! The story line is a bit different from the actually tale but it makes for better viewing I gather. Overall it is a great film to watch with the lights low. "I can hear the scratch of rat claws within the stone walls."
