An average movie

Posted : 8 years, 1 month ago on 18 March 2016 08:49

Before this movie was released, there was a pretty good buzz about it but, eventually, it didn’t get much love and it is Sofia Coppola’s lowest rated movie so far. Even so, I was quite eager to check the damned thing and it turned out to be a decent watch. Indeed, it was an intriguing story and I really liked the cold and neutral approach chosen by Coppola. Unfortunately, this approach eventually did backfire as you never get really the opportunity to get to know the characters and to really understand their motivations. Eventually, at least half of the movie was about them robbing some houses and get shitfaced afterwards which became rather repetitive fairly quickly. I mean, from time to time, you would get some interesting piece of information about the characters like Marc’s previous school trouble, his relationship with Rebecca or the fact that he likes to wear some high heels but, each time, it was just barely developed which was rather frustrating and disappointing. Eventually, even though the whole thing was fairly well directed with some decent performances, it was still difficult to care for a bunch of shallow teenagers obsessing over some vapid celebrities, especially since the director herself didn’t seem to really care either. To conclude, in spite of its flaws, I still think it is worth a look, especially if you are interested in this director.

The Bling Ring review

Posted : 10 years ago on 29 April 2014 11:04

I have been delaying on watching this for a minute now, but I finally have a day off to check it out. Emma Watson and Leslie Mann are probably the only real reasons I decided to check it out anyways. I think Emma Watson really pulls off the Valley girl accent quite well and she is pretty sexy in this to be honest. They are all pretty much dumb teenagers just trying to have fun, but sometimes fun can come at a high cost. Some of the scenes were a bit annoying the way they were filmed. I would have liked more Emma Watson and Leslie Mann of course, but it being based on a true story doesn't leave much liberty for more screen time I suppose. At first I couldn't tell what orientation Marc was, but after a bit I understood also looking it up helped answer the question to know for sure. I thought it was an interesting story. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't much of a masterpiece either. The ending was well done. I say check it out it might be a hit or miss.

To know what really happened, not for entertainmen

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 13 January 2014 12:17

This movie was based on the series of actual crime committed by the teenagers of the California. It was a quite nice black comedy than I thought. But many people did not like it, maybe because of satirical presentation which was more like a documentary style than typical. Music was another drawback, actually there were no background score except those disco musics that come very often.

I have not seen the television version movie of this story of same name. But Sofia Coppolo was successful making an another movie about female oriented subject. For me the surprise was the characters and their behaviours, especially I was thinking the real ones not from the movie. They were aware of what they are doing even the consequences, but they did not care any of that. At some moment it looked like a kids play without any seriousness of life.

Glad this movie was made and I saw because newspapers from other than this region of the world won't quote about it. So people might miss something like this about their favourite Hollywood celebrities who encounter in reality. Again, this movie is not for everyone, probably if you from outside United States you may like it. Only by a small margin as a movie that's based on the real events.

The Bling Ring review

Sometimes a director makes something so bad that you cant fathom what went wrong. This is that kind of time I went through when I watched this fucking piece of shit. The film started with a song that felt like a cruel joke. The levels on the music was so high that I turned the film off the first time, and made me want to turn it off the second time. Is she trying to tell us that music sounds like that in parties? Because my head went threw the roof and my speakers cried a silly song called "FUCK THIS MOVIE".

"Thank god that its over" I said to myself when the song was over. Great start Coppola. And her movies used to be so chill. Anyway, the rest of the movie didn't had that bad music, but oh my god the acting wasn't believable at all. You could see that there was women that only tried to act like whores. Like they made fun of people like that, like it all was ironic. Cool chicks robbing houses and act like whores.

Apparently celebrities doesn't lock there houses because who would enter their houses right. Yeah just leave the key under the doormat like a fucking idiot. Lindsay Lohan wouldn't lock her house even tho she was in prison at the same time she got robbed.
The film had no soul, no meaning, were just plain stupid and one of the worst films I've seen this year, and I watched Man Of Steel!!!

(The technical bits were alright but nothing like her other films).

The Bling Ring review

I think that in order to understand this movie you'd have to read the Vanity Fair article about the original ''Bling Ring'' or ''Burglar Bunch''and maybe even search some information about its members, before seeing it(or even after, like I did). At least that's how I realized that Emma Watson's cringeworthy American accent was in fact a really good impersonation of the real-life character she played, Alexis Neiers. And that the plot is in fact a pretty accurate depiction of the real events,as told by Nick Prugo in the same interview. I also realized that the characters were intended to be portrayed like that:shallow,irresponsible,self-centered,madly obsessed with celebrities because those teenagers were exactly like that in real life: only preoccupied with appearance, social life and fame.
