An average movie

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this flick but since there was a decent cast involved and since it was available on Videoland, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, unfortunately, the damned thing turned out to be so lame though. Above all, the story was just terribly generic and predictable. The fact that they would use a voice-over to tell us what was going on made the whole thing even more pathetic. It’s too bad because, it was the first time in almost 10 years that Vince Vaughn was finally trying something else than a comedy but, on the other hand, you can say that it was somehow rather impressive that he managed to show up in something even worse than all his countless generic comedies. Of course, you could blame his ridiculous haircut (according to his character, it actually had a purpose as it helped him to supposedly easily blend in…) but it went beyond that as Vaughn delivered here one of his weakest performances so far. Seriously, he was never believable as some kind of mastermind burglar and the fact that the guy was always tougher than any other tough guy he met made his character even less convincing and interesting than he already was. Concerning Hailee Stainfield, at least, she was definitely more convincing than Vaughn but she couldn’t do much with this really poor material. Indeed, with this movie, we are far from the Coen brothers and it’s a shame that she has spent most of her young career playing second fiddle in such lame flicks. Anyway, to conclude, even if I have seen worse, this movie was obviously a big waste of time and talent for all the people involved and you should probably avoid it.
