Gábor Málnásy is preparing for his engagement party with Éva Szánthódy, the daughter of his neighbour, a landowner. Enter Emmi, making a mess of both the manor house and its inhabitants. She does this out of jealousy and love. She has lots of ideas and methods to annoy and torture Gábor. Strangely enough, the man does nothing to prevent her from doing whatever she has up her sleeve.
