The worst of the series

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 16 August 2022 04:58

I enjoyed the first movie, liked the second though it had problems, and thought the third was okay. This however was a mess and definitely for me the worst of the series. The gags and spoofs aren't as focused this time around, The Grudge and The Village were not my idea of movies to spoof on, and the spoofs on them were rather weak. The acting is rather dire this time round with nobody seemingly able to get past their weak material or stock characters. The script is very unfunny and tired, the film pace-wise is for me the dullest of the four, the story is too thin for the running time and is predictable as well, the production values are rather cheap and the soundtrack is generic and uninspired. All in all, a bad movie and the worst of the series. 1/10 Bethany Cox

Scary Movie 4 review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 2 September 2011 04:26

Sadly, this fourth movie in the Scary Movie franchise deteriorates in quality over numbers 2 and 3. Still watchable, some big names, but the overall quality has fallen back to that of the original, which was not very good at all. It's watchable, somewhat decent, but the spoofs aren't as good/funny compared to numbers 2 and 3, and were really, really overdone. Could have done without the extended "Tom Ryan" and Oprah scene at the very end of the movie. No one needs to see any parody of Tom Cruise of that moment. The original is enough.

A bad movie

Out of sheer curiosity, I thought I should check this one out. Oh boy! That was a big mistake.... The whole thing was just not funny or entertaining whatsoever. I'm not sure which sequels was the worst one but none of them reached the level of the 1st installment (which wasn't really a masterpiece anyway but at least, it was quite entertaining). Still, I must admit it, the opening scene with Dr. Phil and Shaquille O'Neal was actually quite hilarious so I would say this movie was the best sequel but it doesn't mean much... Once again, it was directed by David Zucker, one of those guys responsible for โ€˜Airplane!โ€™, allegedly the best movie in the spoof genre, and 25 years later, he is directing some worthless sequels probably some of the worst movies in this genre. It is quite sad and, concerning Anna Faris, you might wonder if she will ever recover from the damage done to her career and if she will ever be taken seriously as an actress. Eventually, for some weird reasons, they decided to make yet another sequel (which I havenโ€™t seen yet) and it was eventually another flop. To conclude, at the end of the day, it is pretty bad and you should pretty much avoid it at all cost.
